Continue reading to find out more.\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<!-- Home page 728x90 --><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 728px; height: 90px;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-9864771813712812\" data-ad-slot=\"3152971286\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<h2><b>Identifying the Virus Outbreak<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bluedot.global\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BlueDot<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> offers AI insights on infectious diseases, world demographics, and climate, using data insights pulled from over 100 datasets.\u00a0 A venture-based startup, BlueDot is headed by Kamran Khan, an infectious disease physician who was a premier healthcare worker during the 2003 SARS outbreak.\u00a0 BlueDot identified the 2019-nCoV outbreak a week before the US Centers for Disease Control and has recently been instrumental in helping to identify cities and regions in China and around the world most at risk to the spreading virus due to air travel.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Diagnosing Infected Individuals<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many companies offering online medical consultation and health services have updated their AI chatbots to follow up questions about fever and cough with inquiries about recent travel.\u00a0 While flu is the typical cause for elevated temperature, close to 300 US patients who have reached out to health services (either AI or live) have been referred to CDC for further testing.\u00a0 Thus far, eleven have been positive for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-next-tech.com\/health\/coronavirus-symptoms-side-effect-treatment-truth-myth\/\">coronavirus symptoms<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Finding a Possible Treatment\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Benevolent AI, a UK healthcare firm that uses artificial intelligence to develop and improve pharmaceutical drugs, recently published a paper in The Lancet claiming their AI knowledge graph has identified Eli Lilly\u2019s rheumatoid arthritis treatment Olumiant <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelancet.com\/journals\/lancet\/article\/PIIS0140-6736(20)30304-4\/fulltext\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Baricitinib) as a possible treatment for 2019-nCoV.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 The company stated the drug would \u201creduce both the viral entry and the inflammation in patients, using endpoints such as the MuLBSTA score, an early warning model for predicting mortality in viral pneumonia.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Artificial intelligence may also play a part in an eventual vaccine.\u00a0 AI can look at similar viruses that already have vaccines and identify patterns that could otherwise be overlooked.\u00a0 This gives virologists a better chance of creating a successful vaccine.\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"seethis_lik\"><span>Also read:<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-next-tech.com\/top-10\/best-crm-software-for-2021\/\">Best CRM software for 2021<\/a><\/span>\n<h2><b>How to protect yourself<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldometers.info\/coronavirus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">concerned about the spread of the coronavirus<\/a>, you can follow the World Health Organization\u2019s recommendations for basic protective measures.\u00a0 This includes frequently washing your hands, covering your mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing and coughing into your elbow or into a tissue.\u00a0 \u00a0Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.\u00a0 \u00a0 The WHO also suggests seeking medical care early as a general precaution if you show signs of a fever, cough, or have difficulty breathing.
