The world is watching as the novel coronavirus continues to spread at an alarming rate across China and China launched a mobile app<\/a> to inform you whether you have had\u201dclose contact\u201d with the coronavirus.\u00a0 There are now confirmed cases in twenty-six countries, including the US, Canada, Germany, and the UK.\u00a0 The virus has sickened at least 52,000 people and caused over 1700 deaths.\u00a0 These numbers now far exceed those infected during the MERS-CoV or the 2002-2003 SARS-CoV outbreak.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

  • The virus can be transmitted while a patient is asymptomatic (not showing symptoms)<\/span><\/li>\n

  • A vaccine is not currently available<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Estimated 2% fatality rate.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • 80% of all fatalities have occurred in patients over the age of 60.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
