It’s alarming that people still understand so little about businesses that know a lot about people.”<\/p>\n The FTC’s new fact-finding assignment<\/a> is the hottest national action to place technology in its crosshairs, after last week’s news that the bureau would sue Facebook over antitrust violations.<\/p>\n The new arrangement was issued under Section 6(b) of the FTC Act as research of technology business practices<\/a>. It’s not coupled with any law enforcement actions, but it does not preclude the agency from pursuing authorities choices with what it finds. A year ago the FTC flagged a more profound interest in tech, especially on antitrust issues.
