Started as "Bank of Italy"

The roots of Bank of America can be traced back to 1904 when Amadeo Giannini established Bank of Italy in San Francisco. The bank was originally established to serve the working-class residents of the area, especially the Italian-Americans. It grew quickly and became Bank of America by 1930.
