Charlie Crist, who is currently a Democrat in the U.S. House of Representatives has served as Florida's Republican governor more than a decade ago.

Crist got 902,986 (59.7%) of the total casted votes while Nikki Fried has to settle with 534,470 (35.3%) of the total votes.

Independent voters and Republicans can vote for Mr. Crist if they are tired of Mr. DeSantis’s aggressive right-wing policies.

But the task will not be easy for Crist as DeSantis political rise has amassed $130 million for his re-election campaign, far above what Crist has been able to raise.

In his victory speech Crist said:

"This guy wants to be President of the United States of America, however, when we defeat him on November 8, the show is over."

Charlie Crist started his career as a Republican. He has held two of the top positions in the state, as attorney general from 2003 to 2007 and as governor from 2007 to 2011.
