sells 7.92 Million Tesla shares for $6.88 Billion

To avoid Twitter fire sale, Musk sold 7.92 million Tesla shares, first since april

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO 

stated earlier this year on social media that he had "no further TSLA sales plans" after April 28. 

Twitter sued Musk to force him to close the $44 billion deal. Musk claims he will buy stock again if the deal is not closed


has sold stock in Tesla worth $32 billion over the past ten months.


shares are up about 35% over this year's lows but are still down around 20%. 

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index Musk's fortune of $250.2 billion is the largest in the world. However, his wealth has plummeted to $20 billion as Tesla shares fell. 

Musk tweeted: "In the (hopefully unlikely) event that Twitter forces this deal to close and some equity partners don’t come through, it is important to avoid an emergency sale of Tesla stock".
