GTA 6 Hacker Sentenced To Lifetime Imprisonment In Secure Hospital

Arion Kurtaj, an 18-year-old hacker from Oxford and a member of Lapsus$ gang, has been sentenced to an indefinite hospital order for leaking clips of an upcoming GTA 6 game.

Lapsus$ gang, led by Kurtaj, targeted tech giants like Uber, Nvidia, and Rockstar Games, resulting in nearly $10m in losses.

On bail for hacking Nvidia and BT/EE, Arion Kurtaj, under police protection at a Travelodge hotel, continued hacking, culminating in his most infamous hack, as revealed to the jury.

Even with his laptop confiscated, Kurtaj ingeniously breached Rockstar, the GTA creator, using unconventional tools – an Amazon Firestick, his hotel TV, and a mobile phone.

Kurtaj pilfered 90 unreleased clips of GTA 6. He infiltrated the company's internal Slack, issuing a threat to release the source code unless contacted by Rockstar.

Rockstar Games alone told the court that the hack cost it $5m to recover from plus thousands of hours of staff time.

In the same six-week trial at Southwark Crown Court, a 17-year-old Lapsus$ member, unnamed due to age, was found guilty alongside another member.
