Netflix announces a new Michelle Obama documentary ‘Becoming’, due out May 6

Netflix and Barack and Michelle Obama’s production company announced their latest film: “Being,” a documentary that follows Michelle as she goes on tour to promote her bestselling memoir of the same name.

Although the documentary was directed by Nadia Hallgren, it appears that Michelle Obama had a wider reach and input into the film. Eventually, it was produced by Higher Ground Productions, the company Obamas created to produce content for Netflix, Spotify and more.

Along with the statement has a letter from Obama, where she states this was not only a typical book tour”In groups big and small, old and young, united and unique, we came together and shared reports, fulfilling those spaces together with our joys, anxieties, and fantasies.”

“American Factory,” the first movie to come from Greater Earth’s production deal with Netflix, won this year’s Oscar for Best Documentary Feature.

While Netflix and greater Ground only declared the movie these days, it will not be a lengthy wait for the release — Netflix intends to establish”Becoming” within a week, on May 6.
