A Chinese city wants to launch an artificial moon into space
CHENGDU (China): Southwestern China’s city of Chengdu plans to develop its enlightenment satellite, otherwise called the “artificial moon”, in 2020, as indicated by Wu Chunfeng, administrator of Chengdu Aerospace Science and Technology Microelectronics System Research Institute Co., Ltd.

Reflecting light from the sun
By reflecting light from the sun, the satellites could crowd streetlamps in urban zones, sparing an estimated 1.2bn yuan ($170m) a year in power costs for Chengdu, if the man-caused moons to enlighten a zone of 50 square kilometers.
Researchers estimated that it could be multiple times more brilliant than the real, unique moon. It will likewise circle a lot closer to Earth; around 500 km (310 miles) away, contrasted with the moon’s 380,000 km (236,000 miles).
