Amazon is introducing a personal shopping service for men’s fashion. The service, now available to Prime members, is an expansion of the existing Personal Shopper by Prime Wardrobe, a $4.99 per month Stitch Fix rival, originally aimed at women.

With Personal Shopper by Prime Wardrobe, an Amazon stylist selects an assortment of fashion items that match a customer’s style and fit preferences.

These are then shipped to the customer on a monthly basis for home try-on. Whatever the customer doesn’t want to keep can be returned using the resealable package and the prepaid shipping label provided.

At launch, the brand new men’s personal shopping service will consist of brands such as Scotch & Soda, Original Penguin, Adidas, Lacoste, Carhartt, Levi’s, Amazon Essentials, Goodthreads and much more — a mixture of Amazon’s own in-house brands along with many others.

In total, Amazon states Personal Shopper from Prime Wardrobe provides thousands and thousands of men’s fashions across over a million distinct brands.

The ceremony itself is comparable in several ways to Stitch Repair, since it also begins customers using a fashion quiz to customize their monthly trend selections.

Also like aggressive fashion subscription solutions, clients may reach out to their own stylist with particular requests — such as whenever they require a professional outfit to get a job interview, as an instance, or another occasion where they might desire something beyond their typical interests.

But unlike Stitch Repair, which costs a $20″stylist fee” that can be later credited toward some other items you decide to maintain, Amazon’s personal shopping service is a flat $4.99 each month.

Another distinction is the Personal Shopper service will alert you before your dispatch to reassess their selections. Then you pick the up to eight things that you need to get, rather than waiting for the shock of opening up your box.

Before now, Amazon had provided men’s style in its own try-before-you-buy Prime Wardrobe merchandise choice. But that support only permits Amazon Prime associates to ask particular fashion items for house try-on, rather than paying for them upfront afterward returning exactly what does not work.

So far, Prime Wardrobe’s biggest drawback is that lots of the trend items located on Amazon are not qualified for home try-on, especially many of these from the many in-demand brands.

But, Amazon claims that it does not materials Prime Wardrobe with just its brands. The business says less than 1 percent of its whole choice of brands inside Prime Wardrobe are Amazon-owned. (Obviously, that percentage might be greater in the boxes clients get in their private shopper, sometimes)

Amazon also says countless clients have used the house try-on option offered by Prime Wardrobe and”hundreds of thousands” of clients have generated trend profiles inside Personal Shopper by Prime Wardrobe because its 2019 launching.

But only”tens of thousands” of customers now use the Personal Shopper support on a daily basis.

Meaning Prime Wardrobe isn’t any actual danger to Stitch Repair at this moment, if building a contrast purely based on amount of paying clients.

StitchFix has had more to perfect its own version and develop its own insights, which has enabled it to expand its active customer base to 3.5 million.

That amount is up 9 percent, as of their organization’s latest earnings reported earlier this season. More lately, Stitch Repair gained in the pandemic — once it acquired through its first backlogged orders — as clients sought to alter their style out of businesswear into activewear.

Men’s activewear was especially in need, which is possibly a trend Amazon had seen before the launching of its service.
